Ramblin
Jug Stompers :: official
website
Can
I tell you? Damn! Ramblin' Jug Stompers are Albany's newest, only-est
jug band, playing an eclectic assortment of odds and ends that's solidly
based in the roots of the great jug band revival of the 1960s. Think Kweskin,
Even Dozen and the like. Mostly think Star Spangled Washboard Band, because
we draw three of our illustrious members from that well -- Wild Bill (we
call him the hunkster) on washboard, kazoo and so much more; Bowtie on
banjo, set list and general tomfoolery; and Steven Clyde on guitar, good
looks and the well-it-looks-like-a-washtub bass. The quintet is filled
out with yours truly on the eight-string mando thing and San Francisco
performance artist Ryder Cooley on accordion and musical saw. Everybody
sings, natch. Whew! It's a hot time in the old town tonight!
